Millennium Films has released the first trailer for Rambo: Last Blood. Sylvester Stallone has been a fixture in Hollywood for decades and has had quite the amazing and, surprisingly varied career. However, he will always and forever be known best for two roles; Rocky Balboa and John Rambo. Stallone has been revisiting the former via the well-liked and successful Creed franchise in recent years. Now, he’s finally coming back as Rambo for one last fight, which is being teased in this first look.
This Rambo 5 teaser initially debuted at Cannes. Sylvester Stallone was on hand personally to help hype up the fifth and allegedly final entry in the long-running franchise. As far as trailers go, this is more of just a tease, as it sees our titular character gearing up for what is being billed as his final adventure. Undoubtedly, we’ll see more action once the movie actually arrives. Though, this is probably going to be quite a bit different than what we saw the last time Sly stepped into these shoes.
2008’s Rambo saw the character helping out some missionaries after having spent a good deal of time living the quiet life in relative isolation. The whole thing turned into a bloodbath and a slaughterfest, especially come time for the movie’s memorable yet deadly climax. Sylvester Stallone was quite active on social media during this movie’s production and, as we’ve seen, John will again be living the quiet life, this time as a cowboy on a ranch, no less. And, though he’s going to be called to action once more, even that’s going to be different than what we’re accustomed to.
Rambo: Last Blood centers once again on John Rambo, who has been trying to settle down, living a quiet and peaceful life in the States at the family ranch in Arizona, after having spent decades abroad. His quiet life is interrupted when he teams up with a journalist in order to locate and rescue a group of local girls that have been kidnapped by a Mexican cartel that deals in sex trafficking. The cast includes Paz Vega, Adriana Barraza and Yvette Monreal, with Sergio Peris-Mencheta on board as the primary antagonist.
Dating back to the acclaimed First Blood in 1982, the franchise has been extremely successful, earning $727 million at the global box office. This entry has spent literally years in development hell, after initially being talked about in 2008. It’s gone through various iterations during that time. At one point, we would have seen Rambo duking it out with an inhuman monster, with a sort of Predator vibe. That concept has now been repurposed as its own movie, based on the novel Hunter, which Stallone still intends to tackle. Needless to say, what we’re getting is radically different. Adrian Grunberg is in the director’s chair for this one. Rambo: Last Blood is set to arrive on September 20 from Millennium Films. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
